Following widespread criticism that greeted the pronouncement of operation Amotekun as illegal, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakr Malami, on Thursday, denounced his earlier stance against the establishment of the Western Nigeria Security Outfit code-named Operation Amotekun which he had declared illegal.

 The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III, blow hot said religious and traditional leaders whom are being seen as the custodian of people and to hold political leaders accountable have been cowed into silence.

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar has condemned the killing of Pastor Lawan Andimi, the Christian Association of Nigeria branch chairman of Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State by Boko Haram. 

 The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, on Monday warned all local and foreign interests to exhibit more commitment and restraint on issues relating to national security and avoid taking sides. Buratai said all their actions and utterances must be tailored towards supporting the national cause with a view to restoring peace and tranquility to Nigeria. 

Following a meeting between President MuhammaduBuhariand Governor Bello Mutawalle of Zamfara State, over the case of a Nigerian cleric, Ibrahim Ibrahim on the death row of the government of Saudi alleged to have trafficked drugs,  President Buhari has directed AbubakarMalami, attorney-general of the federation, to handle the case of Ibrahim.
