Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT), a federal Government parastatal sitting in Abuja, has today approached court to, restrained MultiChoice Nigeria Limited from increasing its tariffs and cost of products and services slated to commence by May 1, 2024. The three-member tribunal, presided over by Saratu Shafii, gave the interim order following an ex-parte motion moved by Ejiro Awaritoma, counsel for the applicant, Festus Onifade. 

Gospel Singer Morenikeji Is Dead

Morenikeji Adeleke, a popular gospel singer, also known as Egbin Orun, is dead. This was confirmed in an Instagram post on Sunday by her colleague Esther Igbekele. Igbekele, who posted with the username @estherigbekele, expressed sadness over the demise of the late singer whom she described as a “beautiful and kind-hearted woman” who was supportive of her. According to Igbekele, they had recently spoken, not knowing of the impending tragedy.

Bobrisky Appeal Against Sentence

Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, a controversial cross-dresser, has filed a notice of appeal on Monday to challenge the maximum six-month sentence given to him by a Federal High Court in Lagos.  Bobrisky, who was convicted of currency mutilation and abuse of the naira, currency mutilation and abuse of the naira,  is urging the appellate court to set aside the sentence and release him.

Liverpool Delisted From World Heritage List

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has added Liverpool’s Maritime Mercantile City to the list of removed heritage sites and third to be delisted since the Arabian Oryx Sanctuary, Oman, in 2007 and Elbe Valley in Dresden, Germany in 2009. The move follows concerns raised in 2012 about the proposed development of disused dockland near the city centre, which a UNESCO committee decided were “detrimental to the site’s authenticity and integrity”.
