The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, along with other top executives from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC), recently met with Aliko Dangote, the Chairman and CEO of Dangote Group, to discuss matters related to the Dangote Refinery.
In a statement by the Special Adviser, Media and Communication, to the minister, Nneamaka Okafor, it was announced that the attendees of the meeting included Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA); Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC); and Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).
The statement read thus: “The meeting focused on finding a sustainable and lasting solution to the current impasse affecting the Dangote Refinery, with all parties demonstrating a commitment to collaborative and proactive problem-solving.”
Although the outcome of the meeting was not stated, the minister emphasized that all parties demonstrated a strong commitment to producing proactive problem-solving solutions. Lokpobiri also emphasized the importance of cooperation among stakeholders to ensure the success of the oil and gas sector, which he said is critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and energy security.
