The Department of States Services, DSS says terrorists are planning to attack worshipers and fun seekers during sallah celebration. Spokesperson to the secret police, Dr. Peter Afunaya stated this yesterday, warning patronizer of such public places to be careful, especially market places, malls, calling on the general public to report any suspicious movement to authorities. He disclosed that his operatives have recovered primed Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs from suspected terrorists while on a joint operation by the DSS and a sister agency. He revealed that during an operation along Keffi – Abuja patrol and raid, Keffi LGA, Nasarawa state, a gun runner was apprehended where 486 rounds of 7.62x 39mm ammunitions, 22 primed IED, N31,500 and a Volkswagen car with registration number RBC 202 XA were recovered.

The newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olaukayode Egbetokun, has officially resumed office with high expectations, as he promises to offset salaries and allowances arrears payment of policemen by month end.
Egbetokun who assumed duties on 21st June 2023, was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the 22nd indigenous IGP, after succeeding Usman Alkali Baba, who has completed his 35 years in service. He said in his inaugural speech: “Today, I am before you with great honor and a profound sense of responsibility as the newly appointed Inspector General of Police. I am most humbled by this opportunity to serve our great nation, and I am fully committed to upholding the ideals of justice, security, and the rule of law.”

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed July 13th for the ruling on the application of the erstwhile Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Godwin Emifele. Defendants in the case are the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, the Director General of the States Security Service, DGSS and the States Security Service, SSS. The presiding judge, justice Hamza Mu’azu has yesterday fixed the hearing date after listening to both parties in the suit.

Vice President Kashim Shettima has decorated the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (in an acting capacity), Kayode Egbetokun, barely 24 hours after his appointment. The ceremony which took place at the Presidential Villa at about 1300hours today had in attendance various dignitaries, in likes of: National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma; the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; and the immediate past IGP, Usman Alkali.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had yesterday retired all service Chiefs and has appointed new ones to replace them. In the list of the newly appointed security chiefs, Tinubu named mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the new National Security Adviser, NSA, after he was named the Special Adviser to president on security matter on Security to the president last week. The Director Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF, Willie Bassey, made the announcement through a statement yesterday.

Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, wife of the embattled Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa who represented the Buchi Northern Senatorial district between 20215 to 2023 said contrary to her husband’s claim, she never at any point in time compromised the integrity of her office. The justice was reacting to comments from Nigerians that went viral over media quoting her husband of seeking Favour while serving as senator for his colleagues through his wife while she was serving as the Appeal Court President.
