A Federal High court sitting in Abuja has today struck out the application filed by the federal government seeking to extradite the super Cop, Abba Kari to the United States to face a trial in an alleged fraud-related case. Justice Inyang Ekwo, the trial judge hinged his decision on the premise that Kyari was already facing a trial in Nigeria filled by the Attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Malami, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA against him. The Judge submitted that section 3 of Nigerian Extradition Law forbids the country from extraditing someone whose undergoing a trial in the country until the case is concluded against them.

An unspecified number of persons have become trapped after a building collapsed on them at Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja on Friday. The three-storey building, which was still under construction is said to be a new hotel located specifically near Freedom Christ Mission Church, on Hamza Abdullahi Street, off Gado Nasco Road, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council.

The former Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Professor Charles Quaker Dokubo, is dead. Dokubo passed on at age 70 after a brief illness on Wednesday evening August 24, at an undisclosed hospital in Abuja. The former Niger Delta amnesty boss was born in Abonnema, Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State on March 23 March 1952. He had his primary and Secondary School education in the same Abonnema. Dokubo had primary and secondary education in Abonnema and did his ‘A’ levels at Huddersfield Technical College in West Yorkshire.

The Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Hassan Nasiha has said the notorious bandit kingpin, Bello Turji, has repented and embraced the peace initiative of the State government as part of efforts to end banditry in the North-western state. The deputy governor spoke at the opening of a conference on security organised by the Students Union of Medina University, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He said he had met with bandits in the 14 local government areas of the state. "There were several wars fought but that did not stop the parties involved from dialogue to resolve their differences through a peace deal. "It is in the light of this that Governor Bello Mohammed thought it is necessary to use kinetic and non-kinetic approaches. It would not be a gun battle or a war using whatever weapons between the bandits and the people," he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Rear Admiral Yaminu Ehinomen Musa (Rtd.) as the pioneer Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) which is to take effect immediately for an initial term of 5 years. His appointment was disclosed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
