Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed the appointment of former Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte for the next 18 months as Nuno Espirito Santo replacement. The former Chelsea boss, who guided the Blues to the 2016-17 Premier League title and 2018 FA Cup triumph has signed a deal until 2023 with the option to extend.

Tottenham Hotspurs has sacked Manager Nuno Espirito Santo after the 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United on Saturday. Nuno who left Wolves in May after four seasons in charge for a two-year contract with spurs in June of 2021 have been relieved of his duty due to a series of poor results.

FC Barcelona wishes to thank him for his service to the Club and wishes him all the best in his professional career. Barcelona’s former midfielder Xavi Hernandez, who is currently in charge of Qatari club Al Sadd, and River Plate coach Marcel Gallardo are reportedly among those the offer may be given to.

Watford football club had yesterday sacked its Manager, Xisco Munoz, as the premier league is around the corner. The club made this known in a statement through its website yesterday morning. There were speculations that Watford sacked the manager in less than 24hrs following its loos of 1-0 against Leeds United on Saturday. The sacked Manager earned a promotion from the Championship last season when he guided the Hornets into the premier League. The statement reads, “Watford FC confirms Xisco Muñoz has left his post as the club’s Head Coach,” It added “The Board feels recent performances strongly indicate a negative trend at a time when team cohesion should be visibly improving.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Abuja urged the leadership of the world football governing body, FIFA to consider Nigeria top on its plan for support and investment. President Buhari expressed delight that Nigeria has produced excellent role models to inspire the next generation of stars to take up football. President Buhari made this request while receiving the FIFA delegation led by its president Gianni Infantino and the president of Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe, at State House. They attended the opening match of maiden Aisha Buhari women’s football tournament; and NFF delegations. The President also called on the top echelon of football’s world governing body to see Nigeria as one of its greatest assets when it comes to the development of football. Mr. Infantino praised football’s uniting qualities, the power of the sport’s development, and the growth of women’s football during the two-day visit to Nigeria. He emphasised that exposure to high-level competition is the key to evolution for the Super Falcons, Super Eagles, and the wider, global game.

Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen bagged both his maiden and second goal in Europe as Napoli held Leicester City to a 2 -2 draw away from home at their Uefa Europa League (UEL) opener.  The 21-year-old, having been a doubt for the game against Brendan Rodgers’ men following a knock suffered during Napoli’s 2-1 victory over Juventus in a Serie A fixture, ended his wait for a Europa League goal with a brace as Napoli settled for a 2-2 draw against Leicester City on Thursday night.
