The Presidential Committee on the North-East Initiative (PCNI) has taken a drastic measure to stop rape and spread of the Human Immune Virus (HIV) in Internally Displaced Persons’ Camp.

Alhaji Tijanni Tumsah, Vice Chairman, PCNI in a monthly review meeting with stakeholders and development partners in the North-East, said the committee was relentless in its move.

The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery while making the announcement said Wiley is an exciting choice for the presidential portrait.

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday ordered banks to unfreeze the 24 accounts of the Peace Corps of Nigeria. Justice John Tsoho in a ruling vacated the order upholding the motion filed by the group. The accounts were frozen at the instance of the Police though an ex-parte order it secured on June 23. John Ojogu, on behalf of Peace Corps, filed a motion on notice, dated July 5, praying the court to vacate its post-no-debit order freezing its accounts.

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi, has announced the appointment of Abdul-Akaba Sumaila, as the Acting Sole Administrator of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex. Mr. Sumaila replaces Joseph Isah, who retired from the civil service in September, having attained the mandatory 35 years in service. Mr. Sumaila is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
