The ongoing EndSARS protest in Benin city, capital of Edo state has taken another turn, as protesters have broken the walls of the headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Centre (formerly Nigerian Prison) located around King square and freed inmates. The protesters who after breaking the fence of the correctional centre, located along Benin Sapele road, near the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) office freed the imamates. The authority of the correctional centre is yet to make a statement on the incident as calls put through to were not answered.

Defence Minister, Bashir Salihi Magashi, has cautioned the ENDSARS protesters against National Security breach. He warned the youths not to allow their agitation to be hijacked by politicians or people with other ulterior motives against the State. The Minister stated this in Abuja yesterday while receiving the Coordinator of Buhari Campaign organisation (BCO), Danladi Pasali, who led the state officials to the Minister on a courtesy visit. The Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Mohammed Abdulkadir gave the detail after the meeting.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu has barred the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and other police special teams including the Special Tactical Squad (STS), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and Anti-Cultism Squad from routine patrols as well as other low-risk duties. The IGP also warned against going on operations while wearing mufti, ordering all police officers including FSARS to wear their uniforms. In a statement by Frank Mba, the Force, Public Relations Officer said the IGP "banned the personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and other Tactical Squads of the Force including the Special Tactical Squad (STS),

The Convoy of Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has on Friday been attacked again by Boko Haram insurgents along Baga Highway in the state, killing fifteen security personnel including policemen, soldiers, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). The attack occurred while on the advance team of the governor were on their way to Baga town in preparation for the return of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)to the town, however, the Governor arrived the town by helicopter while his team travelled by road.
