Some vigilant residents of Gashua village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State have averted a tragedy by successfully foiling a suicide bomb attack in the village. The civilians cited the female Boko Haram members when she was about to denotate the suicide vest inside a mosque.

A week after the chief of Army staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai gave soldiers stationed in the Birnin-Gwari axis of Kaduna state to flush out armed bandits that have been terrorizing and killing people in the area, three housewives have been forcefully abducted in Maganda village in the early hours of Saturday.

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has taken over Sea Petroleum Oil & Gas Ltd. and other assets belonging to Senator Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi over an unpaid debt of about N20 billion. AMCON said the takeover followed an injunction granted by Justice M.S. Hassan of the Federal High Court, Lagos against Sea Petroleum Oil & Gas Ltd.

The Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (the ECOWAS Court) presided over by Justice Wilkins Wright has ordered the Federal Government to pay one Sunday Mary the sum of N50m. The verdict was given in a case of domestic violence filed on behalf of Ms. Sunday by a non-governmental organization, the Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre (WARDC) and Gambian partner “Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa” (IHRDA).

The Supreme Court on Friday ordered, Erastus Akingbola, to return to the Federal High Court, Lagos, to answer his alleged five billion Naira fraud charge. Akingbola is a former Managing Director of the defunct Intercontinental Bank Plc. Justice Tanko Muhammad, leading a five-man panel, affirmed the Feb. 20, 2015 judgment of the Court of Appeal in Lagos which overturned the Federal High Court’s decision striking out the charges against Akingbola.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met behind closed doors with the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. According to Punch, the meeting which was held inside the President’s office, centred on efforts being made by Army authorities to restore peace to troubled parts of the country, particularly areas affected by Fulani herdsmen crisis.
