Kidnap kingpin, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike aka Evans, has been sentenced alongside two others, Uche Amadi and Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu to life imprisonment.

Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos High Court in Ikeja on Friday found Evans and the two co-defendants guilty of conspiracy and kidnapping of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maydon Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Mr. Donatius Dunu on February 14, 2017.

According to Justice Oshodi, the video evidence of the interrogation of Evans didn’t show him under duress.

Justice Oshodi said, “He was seen freely laughing and willingly answered questions. A close look at his body showed no sign of torture. He did not look unkempt. He was seen laughing even when he was told that he must be a rich kidnapper. He showed no remorse in the dock and tried to lie his way out of the crimes despite the video evidence.”

The presiding judge, however, discharged and acquitted the other co-defendants, Ogechi Uchechukwu, and two ex-soldiers; Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba.

Justice Oshodi stated that the evidence against those acquitted was not sufficient enough to link them to the crimes.
