The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) has claimed responsibility for the attack on a police station in Adavi, Okene Local Government Area, killing three police officers. The gunmen invaded the station on Saturday, shooting sporadically, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kogi, William Aya said. "The (police) Command lost three of its officers during the gun duel," Aya said.


The PPRO explained that though the attackers escaped with gunshot wounds, the police have put efforts in place "to apprehend and bring them to book."


He urged residents to report anyone with gunshot wounds

According to a report by Voice of America (VOA), ISWAP said "soldiers of the caliphate attacked a police station", adding that five people were killed.


ISWAP also claimed responsibility for an explosion that killed six people in a Market on Tuesday.
