Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen attacked the convoy of Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on his way to Makurdi in the early hours of Saturday 20th of March 2020. The Benue State Governor was reported to be on his way to Makurdi when the gunmen opened fire on his convoy but were repelled by his security men.

A former Deputy Director-general of the Nigerian Law School, Prof. Ernest Ojukwu (SAN) has joined his voice in the debate of who has the jurisdiction to receive the loot of £4.2million stashed by the former Delta State Governor, James Ibori, in a foreign account. Ibori was paraded, tried, prosecuted and convicted by the United Kingdom (UK) government on charges of money laundering in 2012.

The Northern Elders for Peace and Development has backed president Buhari advice against paying ransom to bandit say, it is the major factor that is luring criminals into the illegal venture. The elders have called on northern governors to henceforth desist from paying ransom or negotiating with criminals. The statement was made known by the forum’s National Coordinator, Engr. Zanna Goni, statingthat they kicked against negotiating with terrorist.
