The Nigeria Police Force has set up a Special Operation Squad which will tackle insecurity in the troubled Plateau State communities. The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, made this disclosure on Friday at the Government House in Jos during a condolence visit to the State, over the recent attacks that left many dead and several injured.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has called for the disbandment of the Special Police Constabulary; a quasi-police unit created to aid in community policing. The Commission stated that constabularies should have uniform different from the main Nigeria Police Force (NPF), adding that it was dangerous to arm a group of people to maintain law and order across the nation, especially without basic financial remuneration.

The terrorists wreaking havoc in Plateau State have threatened to launch fresh attacks on Pushit community, in Mangu LGA in the State, today, 29th December, 2023. The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt Forum, Stanley Kavwam, while confirming the above said the insurgents have sent a letter of an imminent attack on the community. Speaking on Thursday during an interview on Arise TV, Kavwam said that anonymous persons dropped letters of previous attacks on Mangu LGA."While I was driving down from Jos to this place, I received a call. A letter was sent to my own village by the terrorists that the attackers were going to invade on the 29th of this December," Kavwam said.

After much calling on the federal government by victims of massacre in Jos, Plateau state, Vice President Kashim Shettima has today Wednesday visited the displaced victims of the Christmas Eve attack in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of the State. The presidential jet conveying Shettima landed at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos, at exactly 1:00 pm with some government dignitaries waiting. 

As a common man is struggling to eat once in a day in Nigeria due to hyper inflation that has hit the country, an entrepreneur, Ms Abimbola Adeyemi has called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in agriculture to that will make food affordable to a common man. Adeyemi, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Crown Fit Cocktails and More, stated that it was regrettable for a country like Nigeria despite being blessed with vast arable agricultural land and human resources can no longer feed its population with basic human need like food. 

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has reacted to the terrorists incidents that occurred in Plateau State on Christmas Eve where scores of people were left dead in a cold blood. The apex Christian body expressed its sympathy to the families, friends, and communities who were terrified by a group of terrorist believed to be herdsmen and unleashed terror on them in the villages of Ruku, Hurum, Darwat, Mai Yanga Sabo, NTV, and Lisham Kwahasnat community in Wase Local Government Area, LGA of the state.
