Ecology and Maritime Rights Organisation Coordinator, Musa Saidu, has cautioned some vested interest groups against politicizing the probe against the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr. Godwin Emifele, by the Department of States Services, DSS. Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN today, Saidu said it was unnecessary to meddle in an alleged N70trillion looted money by the CBN boss and his cronies stashed in different accounts in commercial banks, saying Nigerians should allow the DSS to do their job.
The activist noted that the secret police were just doing their work as assigned by the constitution of the Federal Republic on its office and “as ordered by the President without partiality”.
Saidu said, Emifele is still a public officer entrusted with public property and should be held accountable whenever possible.
He explained that Emifele is accused of diverting public revenue funds. Agricultural loans and running an obscured Forex transaction against the acceptable practice entrusted in his office, he should be allowed to answer the allegation.
In his statement, “The DSS investigation on the CBN governor is lawful and should be cherished by any patriotic Nigerian”.
Saidu condemned “the sponsored campaign”, noting that such “is a sabotage and subversive to state affairs”.
He, therefore, call on the public to respect the rule of law that charged the security agencies to, “arrest whoever is found wanting in government”.
