Following the increasing insecurity that has continued to create anxiety amongst Nigeria especially the people of the North East, the Lawmaker, representing Southern Borno, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has called on President Buhari being the president of the Federal Republic who is charged with the duty of protecting the Lives and Properties of all citizens to sit up.

Ndume who was lamenting on the increase of Boko Haram attacks in the North East who said the situation is disheartening and if not tackled head-on is capable deteriorating by the day.


The Senator made these remarks while speaking on the Channels Television live program, Sunday Politics, saying the resurgence of the terrorist and the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) has kept increasing.


Ndume is the Chairman Senate Committee on Army, said his constituency is worst hit as the Sambisa Forest is still harbouring the insurgents.


In his statement, “The situation in the Northeast, particularly Borno State is terrible. I can tell you that the situation is getting worse. There is a resurgence of the insurgency in the northeast.


“Terrorists recently attacked Askira and Damboa Local Government Areas of his state and killed some people while carting away foodstuff and other valuables.


According to him, he received a report that two persons were killed in Damboa Local Government while two others were also killed in Gumsuri also in Damboa Local government. He revealed that in Askira, people scampered into the bush for safety though he did not get the situation report on lives lost, the Senator added.


He described call by the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Eyinannya Abaribe for President Buhari resignation as baseless and unnecessary.


Abaribe had last week while contributing on the floor of the red chamber called for Buhari resignation over his inability to tame the insecurity that has become pervasive in all part of the country.


The Senate also passed a vote of no-confidence on the military, Police and other security agencies.
