President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding his first security meeting with service Chiefs of the country at the state house, Abuja. Tinibu who arrived at the state house this morning at about 10:53 am went straight into a closed-door meeting with his service chiefs. The service chiefs present a the meeting are; Lucky Irabor, chief of defense staff; Farouk Yahaya, chief of army staff; Awwal Gambo, chief of air staff, and Isiaka Amao, chief of naval staff.
Others are Usman Baba, the inspector-general of police; Yusuf Bichi, director-general of the Department of State Service (DSS); and Ahmed Abubakar, director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
This is the first meeting President Tinibu is holding with the security helmsmen since his assumption of office three days ago.
Although the agenda of the meeting has not yet been made public, it is speculated that the meeting may feature briefings from each security chief to keep the President abreast with the state of the nation’s security as he is just taking over
During his inaugural speech on Monday, Tinubu had promised Nigerians that security would be a top priority for his administration.
Tinibu said, “Security shall be the top priority of our administration because neither prosperity nor justice can prevail amidst insecurity and violence.
“To effectively tackle this menace, we shall reform both our security DOCTRINE and its ARCHITECTURE.
The president had a similar meeting with the leadership of the House of Reps, Femi Gbajabiamila, Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emifele, Group CEO of the NNPCL, Mallam Mele Kyari on Tuesday.
