Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shiites has staged protest in Abuja Yesterday over the killing of the top Iranian General Qaseem Soleimani by the United State Government authorities.
The Shiite members while protesting also demand the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat who have been in detention by the Kaduna state government.
The protesters who were chanting anti-American songs also burnt the United States of American flag threatening brim and stone against America.
Daily Trust reported that one Suleiman Azare, a member of the group while speaking with the journalist said they went past the police station at a junction chanting against the United State action in Iran. Saying the police did not stop them, they were just minding their business. Claiming they cannot be stopped because they were carrying out their constitutional rights.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Musa, the spokesperson of the IMN said a second protest was also held at the National Human Rights Commission by 4pm yesterday, however denied the claim that his group blocked Abuja-Keffi Expressway.
He reaffirmed that they burnt the American flag because of the country’s silence over the continued detention of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
In his statement, “American senators wrote a letter to the Federal Government to release Omoyele Sowore. And Dasuki was also released. But they have not said anything about Sheikh Zakzaky. It shows that America is behind his continued detention. Sheikh Zakzaky is an international issue. That is why we are not happy with America,”.
