Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state says, his administration will support residents who are genuinely prepared to procure weapons to defend themselves against bandits. The bulk landmass of Katsina state has come under siege by terrorist Fulani Bandits in recent times which has fueled criminal activities like kidnapping for ransom and looting of villages. Governor Masari made this promise during a media parley in Katsina yesterday, saying it is unfortunate how men underworld have easy access to assault weapons while good people live in perpetual fear with nowhere to run.

Masari noted that the number of security operatives in the state cannot protect the lives and properties of all residents of the state.

The Governor said, “This security is for everyone and there is no political difference. What people should know is that in Katsina, you do not have 3,000 police [officers]. So, we call on anyone who can take up arms to defend themselves, himself, and his family,” BBC Hausa quoted Masari as saying.

“Islamic law also allows a person to protect himself, his property, and his family. If you die trying to protect yourself, you will be martyred.

“It is also unfortunate how robbers can get guns but good people do not have the means to protect themselves and their families.

“We will help those who want to import weapons because the people of Katsina need to support the security forces.”

Governor Masari has repeatedly asked his people to acquire weapons and defend themselves against the killer terrorists.

Recall in August this year, the governor challenged his people to rise above meekness and face the terrorist head-on.
