The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has revealed yesterday to have recorded additional 288 confirmed new cases pushing the toll to now 5,445.

 

The agency said 179 of the new cases were in Lagos state while 20 in Kaduna.

According to the NCDC, the breakdown is as follows: 15-Katsina, 15-Jigawa, 13-Borno, 11-Ogun, 8-Kano, 7-FCT, 4-Niger, 4-Ekiti, 3-Oyo, 3-Delta, 3-Bauchi, 2-Kwara, and 1-Edo.

Meanwhile, about 1,320 persons have recovered and were discharged from the isolation centre after receiving treatment; and so far, 171 have died of the dreaded virus.

The agency disclosed that the five cases reported on 14th May from Plateau-4 and Akwa Ibom-1 was repeated cases.

The NCDC stated that with the correction, Plateau state now has 21 cases and Akwa Ibom has a total of 16 cases.

The Agency tendered its unreserved apology to these states affected by the error and said it is committed to ensuring the work is being carried out with due diligent while reporting.
