The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has on Friday announced 51 new confirmed cases in the country, making it the highest Covid-19 confirmed cases in a single day since index case in Nigeria. According to NCDC, the Cases were recorded in Lagos, Katsina, Kwara, Kano, Oyo, Ekiti, Ogun and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Lagos recorded 32 cases, 6 in Kano, 5 in Kwara, 2 each in Abuja, Katsina and Oyo, 1 case each in Ekiti and Ogun State.


Nigeria's Covid-19 cases total at 493 as Lagos state remains the epicentre of the pandemic in the country with 283 cases, followed by FCT with 69 cases. Kano State ranks third with 27 cases within a week.


However, 159 people have recovered and been discharged, while 17 people have died including the President's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.
