Manchester City forward Erling Haaland and coach of Arsenal FC, Mikel Arteta, have been named Premier League’s Player and Manager of the Month for August. Haaland, 22 who is currently firing on all cylinders has scored 10 goals in 6 appearances for city and currently tops the EPL goal chart with 4 goals.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared the League Management Company (LMC) illegal, owing to what is referred to as several unpleasant incidents regarding the management of the Football League, particularly the declaration of the National Football League (NFL) as an illegal body by the Federal High Court Abuja. This development was contained in a press statement issued on Friday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ismaila Abubakar. The body has been administering the Nigeria Professional League for almost a decade. The Sports Ministry has advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to immediately withdraw the license given to the LMC and set up an Interim Management Committee.

The UK government released a statement on Friday morning, noting there is no obligation to cancel or postpone sporting fixtures this weekend following the death of the Queen of England, Elizabeth II. However, they have left the decision of whether matches go ahead to individual organizations. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport held a call with all major sports at 9.30 am to determine the plan of action for the rest of this weekend’s calendar and stated they would not be banning the sport.

Chelsea Football Club (FC) has confirmed the appointment of Graham Potter as new Head Coach hours after sacking Thomas Tuchel. The former Brighton manager agreed to a five-year contract. In an official statement released on Thursday afternoon, the Blues noted that the former Brighton boss has signed a five-year contract. 

Thomas Tuchel has been sacked by Chelsea after a series of poor results. The former PSG and Borussia Dortmund manager won the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League trophy, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and an FA Cup runner-up medal a few months after joining the club under former owner Roman Abramovich. This slow start to the season has raised concerns if Tuchel was the right man to lead the new era.

Former Liverpool midfielder, Graeme Souness has faulted Chelsea Football Club for the purchase of some three players during the transfer market this season. Speaking to Sky sports pundit, Souness revealed the New owner of Chelsea, Todd Boehly has spent more than £250m on his first transfer window shortly after taking over the club from Roman Abramovich. He disclosed that such an amount is the highest ever spent on a single transfer window in Premier League history.
