Chelsea Fullback, David Luiz has emerged a frontrunner to replace John Terry as Chelsea Football Club captain. Terry had ended his 19-year career at Stanford Bridge this week after signing a contract with Aston Villa. Luiz who is considered as a shock contended rejoined the Blues last summer from Paris Saint-Germain on a £30m deal. His sterling performance last season assisted the Cub in winning the EPL.

According to The Sun, Luiz became a serious contender for the position after he impressed Antonio Conte with his positive attitude last season. The report added that Conte was particularly thrilled that Luiz, after sustaining a knee injury mid-season, struggled on throughout the campaign to ensure the Club reclaims the league title.
