Russian Billionaire, Roman Abramovich has demanded that any new company that wishes to buy Chelsea football club to continue to invest in the club with a promise to develop Stamford Bridge. Sky Sports News reports that the Russian investor since last week has flagged up the Chelsea club for sale, though said he was doing that in the best interest of the club.

Abramovich, following the Russian-Ukraine crises in the last two weeks, was threatened by the United Kingdom with sanctions being a Russian investor operating in the UK.

The 55-year old bought the Chelsea club in 2003 at the cost of £140million, and he is targeting £3billion as the asking price for his investment.

He is still considering a suitable buyer for the club as he is demanding the new owner to continue to replenish the squad with new signings, as well as oversee the revamp of Stamford Bridge.

Accordingly, about ten buyers have indicated an interest in buying the Chelsea club, with American investment bank The Raine Group tasked with handling the sale.

Meanwhile, a Swiss-American consortium is leading the race to buy the west London club and the group is growing increasingly confident that a deal can be reached in the coming days.
