Former England international Gary Lineker has revealed that another club will sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay in the next transfer window. Shocked by why the Scotland international is not getting more game time, Lineker expressed dismay as to why Manchester United under leadership of Erik ten Hag treat him like this, despite given his astrophysical performances for his country’s national team.

He laments that McTominay has fallen down the pecking order at Man United under Ten Hag.

It was learned that the 26-year-old has only featured for seven minutes so far this season for the Red Devils, with the midfielder coming off the bench in wins over Wolves and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

McTominay’s lack of opportunities at Man United is a stark contrast to his international form after his recent goal for Scotland in their win over Cyprus, which saw him become the joint-top scorer in Euro 2024 qualifying.

Lineker said “I notice Scott McTominay playing and getting in the box a lot,” Lineker told The Rest Is Football podcast.

“He scored again in this game; he scored a couple. He is a top scorer in qualifying. It is nuts, yet he is not really getting a look in at Manchester United. Someone will go for him [in the January transfer window or next summer], surely.”

McTominay has spent his entire career at Man United, having progressed through the club’s academy.
