Armed Fulani herdmen on Tuesday morning sacked Akure South Local Government Secretariat by chasing workers out of the premises over an alleged disagreement. According to Punch, it took the intervention of the Ondo State Commissioner of police, Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju, and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr. Pedro Ideba, who deployed their men in the council, before the situation was brought under control.

The report said one of the council staffs was macheted by the herdsmen and has been rushed to an unknown medical facility for treatment.

Meanwhile, the leadership of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees has called on the government to urgently wade into the matter.
