The President, Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO), Alhaji Abdullahi Wali, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for responding promptly to the abduction of students of Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe.

Wali’s applause was conveyed in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.

He noted that the quick response by the Federal Government to the abduction of the school girls had clearly demonstrated Buhari’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and properties of all Nigerians.

Wali said the deployment of over 200 hours of air search for the Dapchi girls within 24 hours had enhanced confidence of parents of the abducted girls on government determination to rescue the girls.

“As soon as the news of the abduction of Dapchi school girls was broken, the Federal Government swung into action within 24 hours.

“For example, the Minister of Information led a Federal Government delegation to Dapchi and Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, twice in one week.

“Similarly, the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Chief of Army and Chief of Air Staff visited the state to assess the situation and adopt strategies on how to rescue the girls.

“It takes a serious government that is truly committed to the wellbeing of it citizens to go to this certain in addressing security challenge in the Northeast region,’’ Wali said.

The youth leader also noted that Buhari’s administration had been able to limit Boko Haram insurgents to the cowardly act of bombing soft spots and kidnapping.

He also commended Buhari for deciding to visit Taraba, Benue, Yobe, Zamfara and Rivers states for an on the spot assessment, describing it as a “kind gesture to the people of the states’’.

He said the decision of Buhari to visit the affected states clearly justified that the president listen to the yearnings and aspiration of the common man.

Wali said that the Buhari-led administration had performed very well in tackling security and economic challenges facing the country in the last three years.

He listed some of Buhari’s achievements as effective implementation of Treasury Single Account (TSA), diversification of the economy, anti-corruption crusade, war against insurgency and the complete refund of Paris club loan deduction to states, among others.

Wali expressed readiness of NYO to mobilise over 30 million Nigerian youths at home and abroad to canvass support for Buhari’s re-election.

He said it had become imperative for NYO to support Buhari’s re-election in order to enable him consolidate the achievements his administration recorded so far.
