The European Union has reiterated its commitment to supporting the Nigerian Government in the fight against terrorism. In a statement in Abuja, the EU also condemned the abduction of young girls seeking to attend school in Yobe state, north east Nigeria. According to the statement: “Targeting children and abducting young girls as they seek to attend school is an attack on our common humanity.
“The EU sends its solidarity with the affected families and the people of Nigeria. The girls deserve freedom and a chance to shape their own future. We stand resolute to continue our humanitarian and development work, including the rights and protection of girls,” it said.

Kaduna Gov, El-Rufai Sue Shehu Sani For Defamation, Seeking N2bn In Damages
The crisis rocking the Kaduna All Progressives Congress took a new dimension on Friday, Governor Nasir el-Rufai sued the senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial zone, Shehu Sani, before the state high court.
The governor is seeking N500m damages from the senator for each of the four alleged offences, one of which is defamation of character. The total damages being sought amounts to N2bn.
