An ex- Integrated Payroll and Personnel information system (IPPIS) officer at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Haruna Kolo, who was indicted for collecting bribe to offer jobs to susceptible Nigerians has confessed to the allegations of about 75 million on the order of the Commission Chairman, Farida Dankaka.
Kolo revealed this during the ongoing investigative hearing, by the House of Representative Ad-Hoc Committee on Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies; Parastatals and Tertiary Institutions on mismanagement of the IPPIS.
Kolo resigned from FCC on the 2nd of November 2022 to commence duties at Asset Management Cooperation of Nigeria, but was allegedly receiving salary from the FCC.
“On the allegations of job racketeering, the FCC Chairman instructed me to liaise with one Shehu who is a personal driver and PA to the Taraba State Commissioner. As a desk officer, am responsible to take whoever is employed to IPPIS for capturing”.
“When she came, she wrote a letter to the Accountant General instructing that, no letter from FCC should be honored except she signs the letter. So whenever there were new employments, she signs, give to me and I take to the Accountant General’s office for capturing”.
“Shehu brought those who paid monies into my account. Some paid 1 million and others paid 1.5 million to my personal Eco bank account. Dankaka asked me to give cash to her which I did through POS, so there is no evidence of transfer or anything”.
In response to the various submissions by Kolo and the Chairperson of FCC, the Chairman of the Committee, Yusuf Gagdi said, “this Committee will not sit down and watch taxpayer’s money being embezzled”.
The Committee therefore adjourned sitting to tomorrow, 8th of August 2023.
