Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja has charged troops of the Nigerian Army to be committed to guaranteeing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nigeria as well as the peaceful coexistence of citizens. The army chief also affirmed the arrest of the soldier who ranted against the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
While on an operational visit to Enugu and Ebonyi States, Lt.-Gen. Lagbaja addressed troops of 82 Division, Nigerian Army and Joint Task Force, South East, Operation UDOKA, urged them to remain loyal and committed to their constitutional responsibilities.
The Army chief also commended the troops for their resilience, and sacrifices and cautioned them against the negative influence both on and off the Social media space.
He continued by stating that the army had commenced the payment of troops’ Accident Insurance, before appealing that troops should reciprocate these interventions by remaining loyal, and disciplined and upscaling their operational effectiveness in the fight against security challenges in the country.
Before concluding, the COAS noted that the service would not tolerate any form of indiscipline from troops while carrying out operations in their respective host communities.
Similarly, He disclosed that the Nigerian Army has arrested the soldier who ranted against Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for ordering the arrest of his colleague for driving against traffic on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
