The Department of State Services (DSS) has disclosed it would begin production of drones, AK-47s and other weapons that would be used by the Service. This was made known by the Director-General (DG) of DSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi on Saturday during the graduation ceremony of participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 16 at the National Institute for Security Studies, Abuja.

He said, “We shall support the institute in its training programmes. I care for the welfare of our staff, both active and retired. We shall never go back on that. We’ll also continue to pay attention to our research and development.

“Sooner or later we shall start eating what we produce and we produce what we eat. This is coded. It means we shall start deploying some of the assets we have on the platforms we produce by ourselves, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). We are producing our AK-47.

“When we reach the destination, we will save the country from the pains of the resources being chunked out to buy such weapons.”

The DG also assured other security agencies of the Service’s commitment to provide proactive intelligence to complement their operations intelligence, adding that participants of the course should utilize the skills gained to develop the country and he also urged Nigerians to remain patriotic and desist from setting the country on fire.

The course began in February 2023 with 89 participants from 35 agencies across Nigeria and 4 other African countries which are the Republic of Chad, Niger Republic, Gambia and Rwanda.

3 participants of the course lost their lives during the course, leaving 86 participants who graduated on Saturday.
