Senate Chief Whip, Ali Ndume has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to withdraw orderlies deployed to Senators and House of Representatives members. He made this call on Wednesday during an interview on Politics Today, a TV programme aired on Channels. Ndume said, “I support that they should take away all their police (officer).


“One senator will be around with 10 policemen, seven, members of House of Reps, everybody. That is for those who are mobile. Some even give security to their wives, others give security to their children. I am against that.”

Ndume also stated that Nigeria does not have enough personnel to police the nation, therefore, his advice to withdraw orderlies from Very Important Personalities in order to protect the people.

He also urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to increase the manpower of the police and the military and also improve funding with the aim of tackling the menace of kidnapping, banditry and other forms of crime.
