Nine soldiers were reportedly killed by bandits at Sunke village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Sources reported that the incident occurred when a number of bandits on motorcycles came to the security agents’ formation and began firing at them.
Sunke is 30km south of Anka town, the local government headquarters.

The attack was believed to be a reprisal on the earlier killing of bandits by soldiers.

The attacks on soldiers came barely two weeks after the state government raised alarm over possible attacks on seven local government areas by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

Meanwhile, the army is yet to react to the reported incident.
