The Federal Government will soon centralise the payroll for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) just as it is capturing data for personnel of paramilitary outfits on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
The process which was flagged off last Thursday by the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, at the headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigeria Prisons Service in Abuja, is being driven by the Office of the Account General of the Federation (OAGF) through the IPPIS secretariat.
There are 461 MDAs on IPPIS platform as the department is responsible for processing and paying salaries to over 300,000 federal employees across the 459 MDAs.
Adeosun who was represented by the Accountant General of The Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, who monitored the exercise, said 461 MDAs were on the platform already.
Shortly after witnessing the Commandant General of the NSCDC’ s enrolment on IPPIS, the minister declared that, “Today signifies that the Civil Defence is now on the IPPIS platform with all the attendant benefits in terms of efficiency.
She said the Immigration, NSCDC, Prisons and Fire Service had been integrated, adding that, “This goes to confirm the commitment that all Federal Government MDAs and public institutions will be linked to the platform.”
Commandant General of the NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, said, “This has shown that there will be more financial discipline.
With this, it will put an end to illegal recruitment and ghost workers even though the service has no case of ghost workers.
“We have 37 centres across the country and we are expecting to capture about 60,000 personnel within two weeks,” he said.
