The Minister of Defence (State), Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has urged residents of Sokoto State to report any jobless person spending lavishly to security agents. He made this known during his official visit to Sokoto state in the company the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, following the directive by President Bola Tinubu to address the insecurity issue caused by bandits, particularly in the North West States.

Lieutenant General Yusuf Buratai, former Chief of Army Staff has been appointed as the Chairman of Fire Prevention Week and Expo, as well as Nigerian Humanitarian Action’s (NIHA) international flagship program in the United States This appointment is part of efforts to address the increasing fire outbreaks across Nigeria. Dr Kletsaint Akor, Chairman of NIHA and the Proponents Council of Nigeria Fire Prevention Week described Buratai’s new role as a “game-changer” in the fight against fire incidents.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has addressed recent misconceptions about the status of Nigerian airlines concerning flying into the United States. Contrary to circulating reports, there is no current ban on Nigerian airlines imposed by the U.S. government. Instead, Nigeria was de-listed from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Category 1 status due to regulatory changes.

In its continuous effort to tackle insecurity such as terrorism and kidnapping, the Federal Government (FG) has the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle and other military chiefs to move to Sokoto State. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, says the Nigerian Army has so far executed over 200 special intervention projects across the country’s six geopolitical zones. Lagbaja said that the projects were being executed under the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Co-operation Projects. He said this on Friday during the unveiling of some of the projects executed at Ekeoba-Oriendu Community in Umuahia North Local Government of Abia.

The President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajero, alongside its General Secretary, Emma Ugboaja has been summoned afresh by the Force Intelligence Department (FID) of the Nigeria Police Force to appear at the Force Headquarters on 5th September 2024. The fresh summons is coming about 24 hours after Joe Ajaero honored the Police’s invitation over alleged criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.
