Portuguese Prime Minister Steps Down Amid Corruption Probe

Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa resigned shortly after prosecutors issued arrest warrants and raided government buildings due to a corruption investigation. Costa revealed during a televised news conference his amazement over a criminal case issued against him, insisting he had nothing to do with any "illicit of reprehensible act." He said he had not been named as a suspect but believed the inquiry was incompatible with staying in office. Prosecutors said on Tuesday they were investigating concessions awarded for lithium mines and hydrogen production. Five people have been detained, according to Público newspaper. Among them are two people seen as close to Mr Costa, including his chief of staff Vítor Escária, and a business consultant, Público reports.

Teenagers Stabs Teachers, Students In Spanish School

A 14-year-old teenager stabbed three teachers and one pupil in a high school in Jerez de la Frontera, Southern Spain. According to police authorities, they received a call on Thursday about 8.25.a.m. alerting them that an armed individual was attacking people. The attacker who has been arrested stabbed the five victims repeatedly shortly after classes started at the school, police spokesman, Adrian Dominguez told reporters at the scene.

Brussels Police Kill Suspect Accused Of Shooting Two Swedish Football Fans 

A gunman who shot and killed two Swedish nationals in Brussels has died after being shot by police, thereby ending an overnight manhunt. Belgium’s interior minister, Annelies Verlinden, informed the broadcaster VRT that an automatic weapon found on the “neutralised person” was the same as that used during the attack that killed two Swedish men, one in his 60s and one in his 70s.The Belgian federal prosecutor’s office confirmed Tuesday that the suspect, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, had been killed was shot outside a cafe in the Schaerbeek area near the city centre.

UK Set To Proscribe Wagner As Terrorist Group

The government of United Kingdom is set to proscribe Wagner, the Russian mercenary group, as a terrorist organization given that the group’s involvement in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was regarded as criminal by Britain. The BBC, the UK’s public service broadcaster, reported a draft order would be put forward in parliament to allow Wagner’s assets to be categorised as “terrorist” property and seized. The designation will make it illegal for anyone in the UK to be a member of the group or support it. The home Secretary Suella Braverman was to make the Wagner Group a “proscribed” organisation under anti-terror laws, putting it on a par with Islamic State and al-Qaeda.
