The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire had yesterday disclosed that the Nigerian government will receive 10million doses of coronavirus vaccine by March. Although the minister did not state which brand of the vaccine would be deployed to Nigeria, he confirmed that the said 10million would be added to the 100,000 Pfizer vaccine that was earlier stated.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Ghebreyesus has said that a WHO team in China is working with producers of China’s COVID-19 vaccines for potential emergency use listings. “I’m pleased that a WHO team is in China currently working with producers of the Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines.

In a bid to compel awareness and heighten acceptability of the COVID-19 vaccines President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, and other prominent Nigerians will be among the first people to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on live television. The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, (NPHCDA) Faisal Shuaib, revealed this at Thursday’s briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.
