Five people have been confirmed dead in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State after consuming the regular local gin popularly called 'ogogoro.' According to Punch, the deceased had between November 14 and 17 2017 visited one Uwadiegwu Eze's shop to buy and consume the local gin.


Trouble however started when they began to experience body stiffness and partial blindness before being certified dead.


The report stated that Uwadiegwu after getting wind of the deteriorating health of her costumers fled the area. The report listed the victims to include Adanna Iheanacho, 60; Daniel Nwosu Jnr. 45; Friday Osuji, 70; Ifeanyi Njoku, 31; and one Benjamin Okoroafor.


Meanwhile, the Director of Centre for Disease Control in the state, Dr. Okeji has led a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Health to the area to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
