COVID-19 cases in Nigeria have on Friday soared reaching 1,584 cases with nearly 1000 new infections recorded in Lagos State, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed. The Agency made this known on Saturday, saying Lagos State, the nation's epicentre recorded 906 cases. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Rivers recorded 258 and 217 new cases respectively, while Edo and Oyo States recorded 85 and 50 cases respectively.


Ogun recorded 16 cases, Ondo had 14, Bayelsa registered 12 cases, while Osun, Bauchi, and Kano States recorded 10,9 and 7 cases, respectively.


NCDC explained that Nigeria's cases have tallied to 222,655 with 211,373 people treated and discharged. Also, the mortality figure totals 2,984.
