Arsenal midfielder, Fabio Vieira, has been excused from the squad that will travel to Aston Villa for Saturday’s Premier League match. This followed the agreement the club had with FC Porto to re-sign the player on loan. Consequently, the player, Vieira will be playing for the Portuguese club until the end of the 2024/25 season.

According to Athletic reports, Vieira has returned to base where he started as a novice player, as doubts emerge over his playing time at Arsenal.

This has largely stemmed due to the imminent arrival of Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad, as well as the rapid rise of academy starlet Ethan Nwaneri.

The Portuguese international joined Arsenal for £34m in July 2022, but has endured a torrid time since, including numerous spells on the sidelines due to injury, which have impacted his development and playing time
