Former president Olusegun Obasanjo say Nigeria must begin to recruit new generation of leaders who should take over the mantle of leadership from the current one. Obasanjo made this remarks in Lagos at the ongoing Africa Methodist Council Heads of Conference Summit and Women’s Movement Leadership Summit being held in Lagos. According to the Nigerian former leader, insecurity had made the country a dangerous place to live, describing the country as now a land filled with so much suffering and hunger. 

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has unveiled an upgraded platform for reporting cybercrime. This was made known on Thursday by the Force Spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi who stated that the new portal has replaced the old site. The statement reads, “The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is pleased to inform the general public of the launch of a new, more robust and secure domain for reporting cybercrime-related offences as part of the continued commitment to combating cybercrime and enhancing the safety and security of our digital space.

Members of the organised labour comprising the NLC and TUC, has today Friday declared their intention to embark on an indefinite strike over minimum wage negotiation that ended up in a dead lock effective 3rd June, 2024. President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, made this known this evening at an ongoing press conference at Labour House in Abuja, saying the strike has become necessary as Federal government is taking the organised labour for a joke. 

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has vowed to bring the full military weight on the Indigenous People of Biafra/ Eastern Security Network IPOB/ESN to ensure its total defeat following the killing of five soldiers in an ambush by suspected members of the outlawed group in Abia State. A ruling has been made by a High Court in Kano State, Nigeria prohibiting Aminu Ado Bayero from presenting himself as the 15th Emir of Kano. The court has also directed the police to remove him from the mini palace at the State Road until June 1st, 2024 when the substantive motion will be heard. In addition to Bayero, the verdict also had an impact on other traditional leaders: Nasiru Ado Bayero, Ibrahim Abubakar II, Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa, and Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya are restrained from parading themselves as emirs of Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye, respectively.
