The UN on Friday detailed more than 250 “extrajudicial or targeted killings” of civilians in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Kasai region from mid-March to mid-June, counting dozens of children among those massacred.

The U.S. military in Africa has confirmed that it killed one of Somalia’s top jihadis in a July strike, a setback for Al-Shabab, an Al-Qaeda affiliate based in East Africa. Ali Muhammad Hussein, known as Ali Jabal, was killed in a “successful kinetic strike” conducted in southern Somalia on July 30, according to a statement from the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM).

Fourteen Saudi men are facing execution any day now for allegedly staging protests in the kingdom. The men from the country’s Shiite minority, include a teenager who was arrested just before he was to board a flight to visit a U.S. college where he planned to study English and finance.
