Carlos Alcaraz has won his second consecutive Wimbledon title, defeating Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4) in a rematch of the thrilling five-setter from the previous year.
Djokovic, seeking to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon men’s titles, fell shot to Alacarz after experiencing straight sets career final defeat for the fifth time.
The 37-year-old Serbian lost 6-2 in the opening set and continued to lose similarly in the second set. He did, however, ultimately erupt in the third set when he prevailed in the opening game, forcing the match into a tiebreak.
This is the fourth Grand Slam title of Alcaraz's young career, and half have been won on grass — despite Wimbledon 2024 being just the sixth grass court tournament he's ever played.
After clinching the title, Alcaraz became the youngest man to win at Wimbledon and the French Open in the same year.
"Honestly, it is a dream for me to win this trophy. I did an interview when I was 11 and said my dream is to win Wimbledon.” Alcaraz, who was presented with the trophy by the Princess of Wales.
