NDDC Calls For Support, Says Degradation, Human Development Gap Enormous

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Managing Director/CEO, Samuel Ogbuku has called on development partners and donor agencies to support the Commission to bridge the region degradation and human development gaps. This was revealed during a One-Day Policy Dialogue with associates in Abuja on Thursday.

Tinubu’s Inauguration: FG Diverts Traffic Around Eagle Square In Abuja  

The federal government has directed the restriction of movements around the Eagle Square, the venue of the inauguration parade, from 2 p.m. on Friday till Tuesday. The FG in a circular issued by Ngozi Onwudiwe, a permanent secretary at the Head of the Civil Service, said the Federal Secretariat Complexes Phases I, II, III, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be cordoned off by security operatives ahead of the ceremony. “As you may be aware, the Presidential Transition Council (PTC) has unveiled the activities marking the 2023 Presidential Inauguration Ceremony. The Inauguration Parade and Swearing-in of President-Elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which is the climax of the Programme will take place on Monday, 29th May 2023 at the Eagle Square, Central Business District, Abuja.

Nigerian Senate Postpones Resumption Till May 2nd

The Nigerian Senate has rescheduled its resumption to May 2, Clerk of the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze, said on Friday. Mr Akubueze made the announcement in a statement in Abuja. The Red Chamber of the National Assembly (NASS) had, on April 5, adjourned plenary to April 25 for Easter and Sallah holidays. “This is to inform all distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the resumption of the Senate in plenary has been rescheduled from Tuesday, April 25 to Tuesday, May 2,” Mr Akubueze announced.

Matawalle Blames New Naira Policy On Re-election Bid

The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle stated on Thursday that his opposition to the new Naira policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) cost him his re-election bid at the March 18 governorship election in the state. According to him, some people within the Federal Government actively worked against him in the just concluded elections.

Supreme Court Affirms Adeleke’s Victory

The Supreme Court has affirmed the victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke at the July 16, 2022, Osun state governorship poll. While delivering judgment on Tuesday, a five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice John Inyang Okoro, held that the court of appeal correctly reinstated Adeleke as governor.

Adamawa State: INEC Summons REC, Others Over Declaration Of Results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has summoned the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Adamawa State, Barrister Hudu Yunusa over the declaration of the winner in the Adamawa State governorship election which was held on Saturday 15 April 2023. This was made known on Sunday in a statement signed by Barr. Festus Okoye, INEC, National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education.

Newly Elected LP Candidates Won’t Defect-Abure

The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Julius Abure revealed that no newly elected members of the National Assembly on the platform of the party will defect to other political parties. Abure stated this on Tuesday after a meeting with National Assembly-Elect members of the party, with a focus on harmonizing the aspirations of the party ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly.
